Sony is going to hold a press conference in Berlin on September 4th where it’s widely expected that they’ll announce a new flagship smartphone called the Xperia Z1. Said device will supposedly have a 5 inch 1080p screen, 20 megapixel camera, Snapdragon 800, 2 GB of RAM, and a massive 3,000 mAh battery.

In order to build up the hype, Sony has done what every new company does and posted a teaser image. They decided to go with Twitter, and as you can see from the photo above, it’s just a power button. The design of the device appears to be more rounded than the Xperia Z, which many people didn’t like because of the hard edges and terrible screen.

Can Sony turn things around? Let’s start with the basics. If they can’t fix their screens, then there’s no chance of them earning any sort of respect from the tech media. The 6.44 inch Z Ultra shipped with an amazing panel, but now there are reports surfacing saying the display stops working after just a few short days.

Deep down inside, I want Sony to come back from the dead. They were always the electronics brand to beat when I was a kid. These days, however, that title belongs to Samsung and Apple.
